What I Learned in Law School: a Blog about a Life

Filed under law school blog review, January 5th, 2011 by admin

Well, it is certainly good to know that law students or law professionals do have lives beyond studying the law. So, while the name of the blog is What I Learned in Law School, the entries actually are a hodgepodge of topics, from actual career analysis to scoring deals in Amazon. The blogger is posting just about anything that comes to mind on the particular day. Take a look at this excerpt:

This relatively recent Slate article, discusses the fact that law schools are accepting more law students than can be reasonably expected to get jobs after they graduate.

Discussions such as this make the blog a good resource for law students.

Why the blog is refreshing

Most law school blogs and resources focus on the application and survival tips. What I Learned in Law School, by the merit of its name, should be sharing entries on what has been learned in the four walls of a law school classroom. Instead, the blog reveals much more about the writer’s life beyond law school. This is a complete person you are looking at. Some seemingly mundane topics, however, have links to law school. Starbucks, for example, is important to a sleep-deprived law student.

Suggestions for improvement

Though it is refreshing to get a glimpse of a law student or legal professional with a life to speak of, the blog should have some more focus. The pink background could be tamed. What I Learned in Law School is a peek into a personality but would do with some editing.
